Large Decorated Dish 10" dia. x 2" deep
Large pine needle & yarn dish
This is a large, well made dish which has been varnished to increase stiffness and prevent stains.
The artist used black and orange yarn to cover the two rows of pine needles part way up the sides. It was also used to make designs at the bottom of the dish and around the outside edge.
In the picture it looks like not all the V shaped side decoration goes to the same depth. It does, but the colors fool the eye

Large plastic base form
This basket was started by hooking into a decorative plastic piece. I think it is supposed to look like the top of a pine cone. The bottom is covered with a piece of felt to hide the starting points.
The artist signed this piece
Near the edge, on the orange band the artist printed her name E. Felici. I suppose it could have been done by a man, but my impression is most pine needle basket weaving is done by women.
